Our client (PE held) is a market leader and one of the outperformers in its field. The group operates across 35 countries worldwide, employs approximately 3000 employees and generates more than 2 billion euro turnover. In order to strengthen their Finance function at their Head Office they are now seeking to recruit a Group Controller. Headquartered in Rotterdam, the role reports directly to the CFO and drives the development and performance of the global finance and accounting organisation
Positie
  • Manage and develop the accounting organisation that consists of group and HQ accounting and consolidation teams,
  • Strong Business Partner for the CFO and all other Corporate and Global Functions
  • Drives consistent costing methodologies and reporting across the Regions/Operating companies to ensure accurate comparisons between them
  • Ensure there are appropriate month end close process and procedures in place resulting in accurate financial statements. Review and improve month end close process and procedures
  • Analyzing company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
  • Ultimately responsible for consolidation and drafting of consolidated financial statements as well as statutory financial statements for all entities
  • Manage multiple projects in parallel (process improvements, post-acquisition integrations, reorganisations, etc.)
  • Liaise with external stakeholders: banks, auditors and audit committee, investor stakeholders and local authorities
  • Work closely with all other finance subfunction leaders (FP&A, tax, treasury) and ensure seamless co-operation with all interfacing functions, e.g. IT, HR, Purchasing etc
  • Develop performance culture and drive talent development within the accounting function
  • Build strong relationships with the group auditors and ensure audit costs minimized through excellence in control environment and year end preparation
Profiel
  • Graduate degree in business with a focus on Accounting or Finance, auditor (Big4) training of advantage
  • Extensive experience (15+ years) in complex multinational accounting organisations, restructuring experience of advantage
  • Proven leadership track record of leading diverse teams in multiple global locations, remote employees and shared service centres
  • Profound understanding of IFRS accounting standards for distributor, manufacturing and service operations, knowledge of other major accounting standards incl US GAAP of advantage
  • Extensive experience in managing multiple parallel projects in dynamic environments
  • Adept in the use and deployment of financial systems/applications, SAP Business One &/or Microsoft AX experience of advantage
  • Previous experience of working within a Private Equity backed business of advantage, IPO and IPO readiness understanding similarly of significant advantage.
  • Excellent communicator, experienced in driving performance and team spirit, used to managing conflicting priorities with interfacing functions and able to co-operatively find solutions
  • Thrives on stress and project deadlines, self-motivated and team-oriented
  • Fluent in English both verbally and in writing, knowledge of Spanish of advantage
